Kiwi Christmas Books distributes donated books to charities across the country, who deliver them to families and kids in need, all in time for Christmas.

Auckland and Northland Charities
In 2023, all books donated in Auckland and Northland went to families using the services of the following charities:

  • The Auckland City Mission responds to poverty and great need in Auckland city. People come to them when they need access to permanent and sustained housing, enough nutritious food to eat, and when their physical and mental health is compromised.

  • Monte Cecilia Housing Trust delivers a wide range of housing related services which either address immediate housing and associated needs, or raise public awareness and influence government policy on housing justice issues.

  • The Middlemore Foundation’s Kidz First Children's Hospital is purpose built to deliver family centred health care and serve the culturally diverse Counties Manukau community.

  • The Aunties whānau are a grouping of indigenous women who are powerful and extraordinary in their survival. They provide advice and guidance to around 950 people a year around domestic violence and complex situations where getting personalised advice is often difficult. They provide material donations, pastoral care and facilitate the provision of material donations, stuff, and money, to the Aunties whānau of 27 women healing from intimate partner/sexual violence.

  • The Nest Collective gives baby and children’s essentials to families in need. They are a collective of volunteers across Aotearoa who work alongside social workers to ensure families are supported in their parenting journey.

  • Woven Earth help family violence survivors rebuild their lives by furnishing their houses with love and dignity to create a home for them to start the next chapter of their lives. They work with frontline domestic violence support agencies across the Auckland region.

  • The Anglican Trust for Women and Children have been helping mothers, children and families since 1858 and are here for the long haul.

    Through their family services, early education services and social work services, they are committed to investing in Auckland’s children and building them the happy, healthy future they deserve.

  • Nurturing Families is a not for profit charity that provides material aid for families struggling to provide for their children. They work closely alongside the NZ Police, Family Success Matters, ATWC, Family Start, midwives, and other organisations to provide those in hardship with the basic essentials.

  • The Māngere Refugee Resettlement Centre helps refugees ease into life and work in New Zealand. Most refugees in New Zealand will spend their first five weeks in the centre. The new centre will help refugees prepare better for life in New Zealand.

  • Whangarei Womens Refuge (Tryphina House) are part of New Zealand’s largest nation-wide organisation that supports and helps women and children experiencing family violence. Their vision is for all women and children in Aotearoa to live free from domestic and family violence.

  • Mothers Project helps mothers in prison try to maintain meaningful connections with their children because, when a mother is imprisoned, her children serve that sentence as well.

Central North Island Charities
In 2023, all books donated in the Central North Island went to families using the services of:

  • Kids in Need Waikato provide personalised care packs for foster children Waikato-wide.

  • WaIkato Woman’s Refuge provides the tools, knowledge and support women needs to find strength and grow in a safe and caring environment. Ensuring wellbeing and safeguarding children’s future is their passion and they want to assist a life that is free of fear and without the threat of domestic violence.

  • Taupō Women’s Refuge (Awhina Society Inc.) works together with women to make positive changes in their lives and the lives of their children. They offer support, advocacy and education 24 hours a day and seven days a week. They provide plans and walk alongside women through their journey of positive change.

  • Te Whare Oranga Wairua’s Kaupapa is to empower and support whanau-ora (wellness) for those who choose to live free from violence and abuse in all its forms.

  • Taranaki Women’s Refuge are an independent community organisation run by women for women and children. They provide the support and information women need when they are dealing with family violence in their life.

  • Tauranga Community Foodbank is a local charity providing support (in the form of food parcels) to families and people in need in the Tauranga region. Last year they helped 18,556 people from all walks of life throughout our city with over 6,900 food parcels.

  • Birthright provide coordinated services for the support and protection of children and families in Hawke’s Bay through strength–based services that change lives.

  • The Salvation Army are no ordinary army.

    Since 1883, The Salvation Army has fought poverty and social and spiritual distress in New Zealand. They help more than 150,000 people in need each year—with budgeting advice, food and clothing assistance, life skills programmes and other comfort and support.

Lower North Island Charities
In 2023, all books donated in the lower North Island and Wellington area went to:

  • Wellington City Mission’s vision is to see people and communities empowered, transformed, and experiencing fullness of life. They provide supported transitional housing, rest home and hospital-level residential care. They also provide food support through their Social Supermarket, budget advice and financial mentoring, and 1 to 1 support and advocacy.

  • Wellington Hospitals Foundation raises funds for medical equipment, research, services and comfort items that aren’t government funded.

In 2023, all books donated in the Nelson and Canterbury region went to:

  • Victory Community Centre (VCC) is a Community Centre located in Nelson's multi-cultural Victory Village. Their vision is that Victory is a thriving and caring community of health, hope and possibility.

  • The Christchurch City Mission helps anyone who needs it regardless of their circumstances. They take on the hardest cases with love and optimism. While their emergency care is vital, they also provide education and training to help struggling people re-join society and gain the self-esteem and happiness that comes from work, independence and permanent housing.

  • Family Works Otago supports children, young people and their families to be safe, strong and connected. Their services include social work, foodbank, emergency response, financial mentoring, parenting support, youth development and community development programmes.

  • Happiness House Queenstown is a registered charity assisting the Wakatipu area supported by funding groups, local businesses, organisations and individuals.

  • Family Works Southland works from the basis that strong, self-sufficient families are the best places to grow happy and healthy children, and that the family is the backbone of each and every community. Their work is about empowering families to help themselves as they face the inevitable challenges of family life and to work with them so they can flourish.
